Subačius liquid energy products terminal
The main purpose of Subačius liquid energy products terminal is the long-term storage of oil product (fuel) stocks of the Lithuanian State. The terminal also provides services of oil product handling and storage to both private and business customers.
The terminal located in Kunčiai village, Subačius ward of Kupiškis district was launched in 1964.
By Resolution of the Government No 204 passed in 2012, the Subačius Oil Terminal was transferred to the control of KN.

Services Provided by the Terminal
- Storage of oil product (fuel) stocks of the Lithuanian State to ensure the national energy security under the relevant legal acts;
- Long-term storage of oil products (fuel);
- Short-term storage and handling of oil products (petrol and diesel fuel) to both private and business customers;
- Adding bio-additives and marking substances to oil products.
Infrastructure
- The storage tank park consists of 66 tanks with the total volume of 338.000 m3;
- Tank truck loading rack that can accept 28 wagon cars simultaneously and load/unload 14 wagon cars;
- Tank truck filling site where up to 3 tank cars can be filled simultaneously;
- Modern laboratory that determines the key quality parameters for the oil products;
- Fire safety and rescue unit and fire safety infrastructure that consists of a water pumping station, a water supply system, advanced fire extinguishing equipment, a fire alarm system, and rehabilitated roads and protective earth banks.
- Modern surface wastewater collection and treatment facility.
Handling Schemes
- Tank wagon – storage tank – tank truck (both ways);

- Tank truck – storage tank – tank truck.
Development
- The handling scheme (tank truck – storage tank – tank truck) is being developed with the aim of attracting additional cargo flows;
- Installation of an additional oil product pipeline is being planned. It will connect a storage tank with a tank truck area designed for the trading in various types of oil products;
- Investments are earmarked for the development of long-term oil product storage capacities for commercial activities;
- Upgrading of mobile fire extinguishing equipment of the Oil Terminal is underway.
Advantages
- The laboratory is equipped with modern facilities meeting the European Union requirements for oil product quality;
- All external surfaces of the storage tanks are coated with heat-reflecting paint in accordance with LAND 35-2000 in order to fulfill the environmental requirements of regulatory documents and to prolong the storage tanks’ service life, as well as for anti-corrosive purposes;
- All storage tanks’ bottoms are coated with paint resistant to oil products, which ensures both products’ quality and protection of the environment;
- The accumulated technical know-how and experience enables the Company to increase the efficiency of the use of the available terminal capacities.
