The Board of the international energy terminal operator KN Energies has reappointed Darius Šilenskis as the company's CEO for a second five-year term. His new term will begin on November 12 of this year.
"Over the past few years, KN Energies has delivered excellent operational results and developed a long-term business strategy that has set the company on its energy transformation journey. The Board appreciates the efforts of Darius and his team in laying a strong foundation for this transformation by adapting operations to create a sustainable energy future. KN is already progressing along this path, gradually diversifying its activities and building new, as well as adapting existing, infrastructure. We aim to continue this process consistently and believe that Darius' leadership and experience will be most valuable to KN at this stage of its organizational development," says Edvinas Katilius, Chairman of the Board of KN Energies.
The selection of the Chief Executive Officer was conducted in accordance with the procedure for selecting members of Collegiate Supervisory and Management Bodies, as well as the CEO of the company. In total, more than 40 applications were received.
The assessment and initial interviews were carried out by J. Friisberg & Partners, an external partner specializing in executive and management search and selection. After evaluating candidates' qualifications, competencies, and work experience, the Remuneration and Nomination Committee, which serves as an advisory body to the company's Supervisory Council, shortlisted candidates for interviews with members of the company's Board. The selection process for the CEO position was competitive, with strong and professional candidates from both Lithuania and abroad.
"My first term in office was marked by a perfect storm: the COVID pandemic, the impact of the Belarusian regime and its repression on business, the war in Ukraine, the energy price crisis, ever-changing regulations, radical shifts in supply chains, and many more. Despite these challenges, my team and I developed a new, ambitious, and sustainable long-term strategy for the company. We have returned to profitability across all business segments and are confidently transforming our business model—both by entering new energy markets and ensuring the highest sustainability standards in all KN operations. Our outstanding performance in international LNG markets proves we are on the right track, but we are not stopping here.
I thank the Board and other stakeholders for the trust they have placed in me and for the opportunity to continue the work we have started for another five years," says the re-elected CEO of KN Energies.
D. Šilenskis was first appointed CEO of KN in 2019, having previously led the company's Oil Business Service. He has also gained international experience working for the Polish energy group Orlen.
D. Šilenskis holds an Executive Master's degree in Business Administration (EMBA), a Master's degree in Business Management, and a Master's degree in International Maritime Law.
